As college students, we are all budgeting. So here are a few cost-friendly ways to celebrate the upcoming holiday.Ā

5. Picnic at the Park

Everyone knows about aggie park. But check out a few of the other parks in the Bryan/College Station area. Bring a blanket, a speaker, and some friends! You can snack on some hummus and do some arts-and-crafts if you please.Ā

4. Decorate a *Cookie*

I’ve been seeing a lot of ā€˜decorate a cake’ on my feed. And while a cake can be great, what are you going to do with all of it? That’s too much cake. And are you supposed to bake all the cake beforehand? Cookies are an easier alternative. A batch of 12 goes a long way, and the amount of icing used is significantly less. And cookies only need 12 minutes in the oven, not 45.

3. Mocktail Mixer

I personally love mixing drinks. It’s a passion of mine. And who knows, you might enjoy it too. Grab some sparkling water, fresh fruit, and cream from the store. You can curate your drink to your specific taste. And this can be a later affair, a pregame to partying at Northgate if you choose. Just remember to drink responsibly.

2. Dance Class at the Rec

The Rec offers a bunch of different classes for cheap. You and your friends can all register for a class beforehand and enjoy learning a new skill.Ā

1. Scary Movie Night

To avoid playing into the love-crazed holiday, you can binge a whole lot of terrifying thrillers. It Follows might be high on the list. Order some pizza in and slug out on the couch.

Howdy! I’m Gabriela Gomez, an avid reader who is interested in all areas of publishing and writing. And reading of course! I’m the Editor-in-Chief; I currently oversee all the publishing of articles for the Her Campus at TAMU chapter. I am overjoyed to read all the members’ articles and make any corrections that will help to elevate the article. I have been with Her Campus at TAMU since my freshman year. The first year I was a general member on the Writing and Editing committee. During that first year, I wrote a total of 23 articles and was always finding new ways to help. For my second year, I worked as the Senior Editor, publishing more than 80 articles and writing 38 articles. Now in my second semester of junior year, I have implemented a new pitch process for better organization and cleanest, I have already published more than 170 articles, and I have written 16 articles and will continue writing more! Besides working as the Editor-in-Chief, I am a dedicated student at Texas A&M studying Biomedical Sciences. I am also obtaining a minor in both English and Spanish. While not studying diligently, I work in a research lab grinding away, trying to get my name on some research papers (fingers crossed). In my free time, I read, obviously. I am also on the hunt for the best latte to ever bless this earth and love a good game of chess!
