I know you guys are sick of dining hall food and hitting up the same Chipotle, Dunkin’, and whatever sad excuse for sushi you keep ordering. It’s time to switch it up. And no, I don’t mean taking a trek to Huntington for overpriced pasta. I’m talking about digging into some hidden gems around Stony Brook that will actually make you excited to eat again. Let’s be real—you’re already here, so you might as well eat good.

Setauket Pita House
Setauket Pita House is giving fresh, homemade Turkish food that will actually have you licking your plate. Located at 1385 Route 25A, this spot is a must-visit if you’re craving something flavorful but also reasonably priced. Their Iskender Kebab? Life-changing. The hummus is creamy, the bread is warm, and the portions are generous. Plus, the owners are super welcoming, which makes the whole experience feel even better.

Saigon Casa
If you haven’t been to Saigon Casa yet, what are you even doing? This cute Vietnamese spot located at 4747 Nesconset Hwy Port Jefferson Station has some of the best pho in the area. Perfect for when you need something warm and comforting after bombing an exam. Their summer rolls are always fresh, and the banh mi? Elite. Plus, it’s family-owned, so you already know the love and effort are real.

Domo Sushi
A little further out in East Setauket, Domo Sushi is that spot if you’re serious about sushi. This isn’t your sad supermarket sushi—it’s the real deal. The fish is super fresh, the rolls are creative, and the prices are actually fair for the quality. Get the omakase if you’re feeling fancy or stick to the classic spicy tuna roll—either way, you’ll leave happy.

Raga Indian Restaurant
The best Indian food near Stony Brook, hands down. Located at 850 Route 25A, Raga is where you go when you need a proper spice kick. Their chicken tikka masala is rich and creamy, the biryani is packed with flavor, and the garlic naan? Absolutely essential. It’s the type of place where you’ll end up over-ordering because everything looks good (and trust me, it is).

Crazy Beans
You need a brunch spot? Crazy Beans in Stony Brook Village is that girl. Their menu is packed with fun, quirky takes on breakfast and lunch, and their coffee game is strong. Try the Nutella latte if you’re feeling sweet, or go for their loaded breakfast burrito if you need something hearty. It’s also just a super cute, cozy spot to catch up with friends or pretend to study while sipping on a cappuccino.

So yeah, it’s time to stop playing it safe and actually explore some good eats around here. Stony Brook might not be NYC, but trust me, these spots will make you forget all about your usual go-to’s. Thank me later.
